The Development of Contemplative Learning with Advancing Children's Mathematical Thinking to Enhance Mathematically Logical Thinking for Early Childhood Learners
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to develop the contemplative learning with advancing Childrens Mathematical Thinking to enhance mathematically logical thinking for early childhood learners and 2) to compare mathematically logical thinking skill of early childhood learners between before and after contemplative learning with advancing childrens mathematical thinking. The sample included 25 pre-childhood students from Wannasawangchit School in the 2nd semester of academic year 2013. The research instruments consisted of lesson plans and assessment form of mathematically logical thinking skill. Data was statistically analyzed in percentage, mean, and t-test.
The findings revealed as follows:
1. The developed contemplative learning model delineated the following components: 1) theories/concepts of developing early childhood learners logical thinking 2) model objective of developing early childhood learners logical thinking 3) learning process in 4 steps: step 1 thinking encouragement; step 2 setting hypothesis; step 3: experiment; and step 4 mathematical conclusion, and 4) the learning outcomes in 4 aspects i.e. reasoning, relating, linking, and mathematical summarizing.
2. The mathematically logical thinking skill of early childhood learners after learning through the developed learning model was found higher significantly at 0.01 level.
