Abstract:
This study was aimed to 1) study and compare the operation of education management based on His Majesty the Kings Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of schools which were sorted by school size and 2) investigate problems in and advices on the operation of education management based on the philosophy. The sample group was consisted of 140 schools under the jurisdiction of the Office of Roi Et Primary Educational Service Area 3 and 420 informants who were administrators, teachers, and heads of school committees. These samples were obtained through proportional stratified random sampling. The research instrument for data collection was a constructed rating scale questionnaire with a reliability of .986. The statistical analysis of data included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and F-test (One-way ANOVA).
The findings are as follows:
1. His Majesty the Kings Sufficiency Economy Philosophy was incorporated into both the overall operation and its specific aspects of education management of the schools at a high level.
In comparison, the overall operation and its specific aspects of education management of the different school sizes were significantly different at the .05 level. Exceptionally, the following aspects; building learning atmosphere and environment and managing a supervision system (supervision, follow-up, evaluation, and report) were not different.
As for paired comparisons of the school sizes, it was discovered that 1) the small and medium sized schools were significantly different at the .05 level in the overall operation and its specific aspects, 2) the medium and large sized schools were not different, and 3) the small and large sized schools were significantly different at the .05 level only in the overall operation and in the following aspects; making educational policies based on the sufficiency economy philosophy, developing staffs knowledge, understanding, and living based on the philosophy, and promoting stakeholders participation in education management.
2. According to the investigation into problems in and advice on the operation of education management based on the sufficiency economy philosophy, 1) the most common problems were as follows; the school committee members had a little role in the operation and problem analysis and the school needs were not related to the local context. Moreover, the school staff lacked an insight into the sufficiency economy philosophy. Also, the organizational structures of the schools were complicated and the staffs workloads were overlapped. As a result, the teachers could not integrate the sufficiency economy philosophy into learning management, unit plans, and lesson plans. 2) The most common advices on further improving the operation of education management based on the sufficiency economy philosophy were professionally managing the supervision system (supervision, follow-up, evaluation, and report), simplifying the organizational structures, minimizing the redundant workloads, promoting stakeholders participation in policy making, integrating the sufficiency economy philosophy into the local needs, managing student-centeredness, cooperating with community people and learning sources in order to achieve an operation potential.
