Abstract:
The purposes of the research were 1) to study the communication process in theatre plays creation by using transformative learning theory to transform actors frame of reference 2) to analyze the transformation of actors frame of reference. This study is a qualitative research by using multiple methods including of participation observer with in-depth interview, pre-post process questionnaire and reflection note to monitor the change of behavior of three target group actors; Crescentmoon Theatre, New Theatre Society and junior-year students of faculty of Communication Arts, Siam University. Using Phee-Meaw-Dum - plays script adapted from Venigar Tom by Caryl Churchill and Thun- Tha-Khad adapted from The Trial by Franz Kafka as a tool in the research process. The result found that communication process in theatre plays creation by using transformative learning theory to transform actors frame of reference is consists of the analysis of plays theme, the otherness, The analysis of performance style is presentation approach or stylized theatre to emphasis content and communicate thought of plays, The analysis of production creation emphasize on actors by sharing interpretation. Theatrical creative process designed to analyze themselves, others and the themes of the plays to link with social factor. And use the process of dialogue. There are two main aspects of transformation actors. The first major is concept of actor property as performing skill have increase mean score from 4.29 to 4.55 and thinking skill have increase from 3.97 to 4.35. The second is concept of the actors themselves, other and social that have increase from 3.84 to 4.25. Moreover, this research found that the important component for converted actors composed of 1) Facilitator should have understanding transformative process 2) Defining the content to change concept of actors 3) Creating activity which related to the content 4) The environment of activities 5) Dialogue Process and 6) Reflection note
