A novel technique for solving nonlinear differential equations

Abstract:
In this dissertation, I explored a variation of the Adomian decomposition
method (ADM) for solving a class of nonlinear initial value problems (IVPs) of first
order and second order in time. The aim of the development is to defeat the difficulty
of calculating the Adomian Polynomials for high nonlinear operators. A new scheme
which provides series solutions by regarding the nonlinear operator as an implicit
function of time. The coefficients of the series can be directly calculated by the aid of
Calculus of several variables. The experiments revealed that the solution acquired by
the new scheme is quite accurate. It can be written in a closed form or can be truncated
to have a numerical solution. The algorithms for the proposed method were designed
with an extendable property. The complexity for calculating the k-th coefficient is in
O(k3). The proposed method completely avoid the calculation of Adomian
polynomials, as well as any integrations during the process of the ADM.
