Abstract:
Araceae diversity at Khao Luang National Park, Lansaka District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province was conducted from April 2012 to March 2013. Twenty-one species in 17 genera in 4 subfamilies were collected from 5 stations. Subfamily Aroideae, the highest diversity, comprises 16 species, subfamily Monsteroideae the second high diversity, includes 3 species. subfamily Lasioideae, and subfamily Pothoideae. And consists of only 1 species. The checklist, descriptions, illustrations and distributions of 21 species found are given along with the keys to genera and species. Most species, 15, in this study are terrestrial, 5 are hemiepiphytes, 1 is a floating aquatic plant. Most species are found near the stream with high humidity. Nine species are found at the level 0-200 meters above sea level. Three species are found at the level 200-600 m asl. One specie is found at the level higher than 600 m. Eight species are found at all levels. The highest number of species, 18 in 12 generas, are found at Nantaha waterfall station.
At least six species are edible, six species are medicinal and nine species are ornamental plants.
