Teacher's opinions concerning library usage as teaching aids in Life Experinence area in elementary schools under the Office of the Bangkok Primary Education
Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this research was to study the teachers opinion concerning library usage as teaching aids in Life Experience area in elementary schools under the Office of the Bangkok Primary Education. Procedures The samples used in this study were 462 Prathom Suksa 1-5 teachers who teach Life Experience area in elementary schools under the Office of the Bangkok Primary Education in the academic year 1982. A set of questionnaire used for gathering data was composed of multiple choices, checklists, rating scales and openended statements. Data were then tallied, tabulated and analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Result The results showed that most of the teachers used the library resources in teaching Life Experience area by recommending the names of the books to their students and having them study during their free time and then report as class activities. The libraries also issuing bulletin board, library exhibition and general knowledge competition in promoting students experiences. Librarians themselves can make decision in providing needed books for the libraries. Also new books were introduced at the book corners. Book that most teachers used for teaching were supplementary reading books others than the usual textbooks. The journals used were Chaiyapruk and T.O.T. magazine. The problems was that there were not enough copies of needed book. It was also suggested that the decision should be made with cooperative effort between librarians and teachers to provide books for the library.
