Relationships between parents' knowledge and attitude towards curriculum and their supports in the learning of prathom suksa six sstudents in schools under the jurisdiction of the Office Nakhon Sawan provincial primary Education
Abstract:
Purposes of Research : The purposes of this research were as follows :- 1. To study the parents knowledge in the Elementary School Curriculum B.E. 251. 2. To study the parents attitude towards the Elementary School Curriculum B.E. 2521. 3. To study situation of parents supports their students in learning. 4. To study the relationships between parents knowledge and attitude towards curriculum and their supports the students in learning. Hypothesis of Research The relationships between parents knowledge and attitude towards curriculum and their supports in learning for Prathom Suksa six students were positive correlation. Procedures of Research : The sample for this research was selected by using multi-stage sampling. The sample were 530 parents of the students who studied in Prathom Suksa six in Elementary schools under the jurisdiction of the office of Nakhon Sawan Provinical Primary Education, second semester academic year 1985. Besides, the samples were 40 Prathom suksa Six students and 40 teachers who taught in Prathom Suksa Six which the researcher used the data obtained from the aftermentioned samples for discussion. The total number of the sample was 610 persons. The researcher constructed three research instruments. The first instrument was the questionnaire for the parents, the second instrument was the questionnaire for the students and the third instrument was the questionnaire for the teachers who taught in Prathom Suksa Six. The statistics used in this study were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearsons Product Moment correlation, Stepwise Multiple Regression and One-Way Analysis of Variance. Results of Research The major findings were as follows:- 1. Mean of the parents knowledge in Curriculum was at the low level. 2. Mean of the parents attitude towards Curriculum was at the average level. 3. Mean of the parents supports for students was at the average level. The parents supports were at the average level as follows: Thai, the Area of Life Experiences, the Area of Character Development, the Area of Work-Oriented Experiences and general supports. Furthermore it was found that the level of the parents supports in mathematics and English were low. The researcher checked parents supports in learning from the students and the teachers. It was found that mean of the parents supports from the two groups were not significantly different from the parents. It showed that the result of this study from the parents was statistically reliable. 4. The parents knowledge, attitude towards curriculum and supports for the students in learning has no significant relationships among them. 5. Parents problems about their supports for the students were arranged in order, according to their importance as follows: 5.1 In learning Mathematics. 5.2 In encouraging their students to be active in searching for their studies continually. 5.3 In sparing enough time to pay attention to their students learning. 5.4 In their own roles to support their students learning. 6. The parents requirement in this study were : Elementary School Curriculum B.E.2521 in the contents of Mathematics and Thai. and their roles to support their students.
