Abstract:
Packaging is an obvious element in development of Green Logistics and Supply Chain Management. According to the volume of waste which mostly from packaging of the products that disposed by consumers. From the result, it will directly effect to the disposal and decomposition of environment. This study aimed to implement for green packaging development in assembly electronic components manufacture. The case study of the subsidiaries foreign companies AA company in Chiang-Rai operates production and assembly of electronic components by focusing on the materials handling and packaging management. From the study, it was found that the main problem is from packaging design that used hugely shockproof foam and plastic as components. This will lead to waste cost and effect to environmental friendly.
Researchers had developed a green packaging design based on the concept of Green logistics and supply chain management by started from gathering data, survey on material
handling and packaging activities in company. And interviewing the company in term of packaging by using a potential interview form. Then categorize group of goods by sales data in order to plan and design appropriate packaging. New design of green packaging was added a button for lock in order to reduce the movement of the plastic tray, reducing shockproof foam in the packaging. And implement re-use plastic tray policies, it can be absolutely applied to the new packaging.
From the result, if compare current packaging with new packaging design shown that the company could add more trays in a carton from 20 trays to 21 trays. This also can reduce costs or material costs of packaging approximately 1432.69 baht/year. Moreover, it also can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 74.73 kgCO2eq/year, reduce the volume of using shockproof foam by 31 kg/year and cost of raw material purchasing by 2893.33 baht/year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 310.04 kgCO2eq/ year. In the other hand, re-use plastic tray policies by reused one cycle per month also can reduce plastic (PET) cost by 116,265 baht/year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 71.51 kgCO2eq/year. For a total cost or expense that companies able to reduce is approximately 120,591.02 baht./year or 45.43 percent when compared with overall current costs of company which considered as a wasted expense or cost that company must spend each year.
