Abstract:
The research objectives are; 1) Study the background and experiences of television drama directors who have directed stage plays and films. 2) Study concept of creation in different media. 3) Study strategies in linking other media to the television drama directed. The qualitative research method is conducted on this thesis. This research study on 6 directors by the multi-methodology: participatory observations as an actor, in-depth interview, data collect from documents and also interviewing actors who had experience in working with the directors. The research finding illustrated that academic background, personal interest and directing experiences influenced on their production which can be classified into 3 groups 1) The television drama directors who have directed film. 2) The television drama directors who have directed stage plays and films. And 3) The television drama directors who have experienced as an actor and script writer. Regarding to creative and production approach, research result can identified in 6 approaches; 1) Understanding real life approach 2) Presenting acting concept approach 3) Narration approach 4) Social contribution approach 5) Art and composition approach and 6) Entertainment industrial business approach The research outcome also elucidated linkage procedure which television drama directors use to nexus their production with other media. They integrate from stage plays and films mainly approach in overall presentation much more than acting techniques and performance details. In contrast, other two types of director are mainly concern on acting techniques and performance details more than overall presentation. This research also found 4 main obstacle problems which director normally facing; defective drama script, imperfect acting skill, teamwork attitude and working technique problem. In addition, research finding showed that most directors participated in every processes of their production including film edited process in order to finalized some unexpected problem and complete their overall production.
