Abstract:
This research and creative work has been formulated drawing upon educational knowledge of the intertextuality and context theories, which are related to the process of creating a work of art inspired by Chinese ethnic family background. The studies of the historical social events in Bangkok was defined during the period between B.C. 2500 and 2517 (1957 - 1974), which was a period of enormous social, political, economic and governance changes. This period is the very same period of which the researchers mother grew up experiencing and recognising the social conditions of the capital through the entertainment culture namely movies, radio soap operas, and music via the communication and contemporary art channels such as theatres, cinema, television, radio and posters etc. At the same time, she was affected by social changes, both in terms of the public acceptance of the social status of people of Chinese ethnicity when the country was promoting Thainess, as well as the social acceptance of widespread discrimination based on her gender as a female. The research methodology framework has defined under the intertextuality theory, music and relative contexts among the set of mothers perception through the creative works of video art, a media with mixed images and sound content, in order to conform with the theories, principles and concepts of art. The video art is created by using the interpretation and selection method of the work in the past to rebuild new creations (Appropriation) in order to cause the audiences to recall images from their memory of the social past (Social Memory). To reach such a result, the researcher has to carefully plan out the presentation process to ensure that the context is presented in chronological order of social events, whilst adopting the anonymity and disclosure principles on signs and symbols which are the high and low points in his mothers life, according to her interview, as factors in the production of video art. Furthermore, this research selected the local residents and environment within the community of soi Charoennakorn 13, the current residence of his mother, as an operational field for research and creativity.
