Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the framework of university library management to enhance lifelong learning skills of students; 2) to study the current state and the desirable state of university library management to enhance lifelong learning skills of students; 3) to develop university library management strategies to enhance lifelong learning skills of students. This study was conducted, using mixed method approach. The samples of the study were 97 state and private university libraries. Questionnaire and strategic evaluation form of feasibility and appropriateness were used as tools to collect data. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, PNI modified and F-test were used to analyze the collected data. The research findings showed that 1) The framework of university library management to enhance lifelong learning skills of students consist of five university library management: Management policy and system, learning resources, learning support services, learning environments and information professionals competency and roles and concerning three main lifelong learning skills of students: Thinking skills, learning skills and information technology and communication skills. 2) The overall current state of university library management to enhance lifelong learning skills of students was at a high level. Learning support services were at the highest level and information professionals competency and roles were at the lowest level. The overall of the desirable state was higher than the current state. Learning environments were at the highest level and management policy and system were at the lowest level. 3) The five main strategies of university library management to enhance lifelong learning skills of students were (1) Strategies to develop library as lifelong learning resources in the digital age. (2) Strategies to promote intellectual repository using for lifelong learning of students. (3) Strategies to innovate digital information literacy teaching for support lifelong learning of students. (4) Strategies to manage environment for lifelong learning and (5) Strategies to develop competency in lifelong learning of information professionals.
