Abstract:
This research aimed to study the authentic state and the desirable state, to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and to develop private school management strategies to enhance English language ability of elementary school students. This study was conducted, using mixed method research. 327 schools were used as sample size. The instruments used were questionnaire and strategic evaluation form of feasibility and appropriateness. The data were analyzed, using frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, PNImodified and content analysis. The research findings showed that the overall view of the authentic state and the desirable state of private school management were of high level and highest level covering planning, evaluation and implementation respectively. The overall view of the authentic state and the desirable state of the enhancement of English language ability were of high level and highest level covering roles and responsibilities of teachers, school administrative team, students, parents and community respectively. Through internal environmental analysis, it was found that roles and responsibilities of teachers were the highest strength factor. The main strategy was strategy to add strength and opportunity aspects as well as to prevent threats on the roles and responsibilities of teachers. The sub-strategy was strategy to add strength and opportunity aspects as well as to prevent threats on the teaching and evaluating of English language. The only weaknesses found were roles and responsibilities of community. The main strategy was strategy to reduce weaknesses and to prevent threats on the roles and responsibilities of community. The sub-strategy was strategy to reduce weaknesses and to prevent threats on the activities relating to the students' needs on English language. Through external environmental analysis, the study found that the advancement of technology was the highest opportunity factor. The highest threat factor was the government budget allocation. The private school management strategies to enhance English language ability of elementary school students comprised of 12 main strategies, 40 sub-strategies and 80 directions.
