Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to analyze and synthesize concepts concerning the process of knowledge management competency of undergraduate students, study current status, problems and obstacles of knowledge management competency, and develop forms of the knowledge management competency of undergraduate students. There were three groups of samples, consisting of 1) 14 experts having experiences of knowledge management in organizations and higher education institutes, 2) 618 undergraduate students of 7 government universities providing 3 majors following the ISCED standard, and 3) 30 undergraduate students studying in the first to fourth year at Chulalongkorn University. The instruments were the opened-end questions for in-depth interview, questionnaires, an assessment form and a record form, Data were analyzed by means of content analysis and descriptive statistics; mean, percentage, standard deviation, two-way ANOVA, and paired t-test. The results were as follows.1. The knowledge management competency of undergraduate students consisted of 1) Contents of knowledge management 2) understanding about information technology 3) knowledge identification, 4) knowledge management skills 5) interpersonal communication 6) knowledge sharing 7) thinking and problem solving skills 8) knowledge management ethics and honesty, and 9) knowledge sharing responsibility. 2. The total mean of knowledge management competency of undergraduate students was at a medium level (mean = 3.25) at the statistical significance level of .05. When considering each aspect, understanding about information technology was found to be the lowest ranked competency, at a medium level (mean = 2.89) at the statistical significance level of .05, whereas consciousness on virtue, ethics and honesty in knowledge management had the highest mean, ranking at a good level (mean = 3.57) without the statistical significance level of .05.3. For the model of knowledge management competency of undergraduate students consisted of principles, objectives, learning outcomes, learning contents and activity arrangement processes. The processes were 36 hours of activity arrangement divided into 3 phases: The results the post experiment were higher than pre-experience at the statistical significance level of .05 (p = .018). Overall of knowledge management competency of undergraduate students group before the experiment was at a medium level (mean = 3.42), whereas the result after the experiment was at a good level (mean = 3.92)
