Abstract:
The research reveals that current beach profiles and coastal conditions along chonburi province
have been critically and continuously eroded, in particular many eastern seaboard provinces.
For example Tamru cannel, Wannapha beach, Captain Yuth beach, Bangpra, Bangsarai, and
Pattaya, as a result of south west wind. These beaches have been eroded at 0.5 centimeter
annually. Most of 82 percent coastal has medium erosion between 1-5 meter per year.
The consequences of coastal erosion have directly effects to community and provincial
economy, including impact to water and environmental ecology continually.
The objective of the study is to study and analyse problematic situations related with
coastal erosion and its effects in eastern provinces, in particular Chonburi province it studies
pattern of coastal erosion protection structure, including studying effectiveness and efficiency
and impacts to economy, social and environment from building the structures. To achieve the
objectives, literature review was done. In-depth interview was conducted from experts and
professional in field of coastal engineering, environment, economic and social. The results were
processed and analysed by using Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA) method. The method weighted
scores in groups both major and minor factors.
The result shows how to classify and analye location and area of critical coastal erosion
from 7, 4, 3 and 2 areas respectively. Areas have different strength and weakness factors.
The researcher identified selected area including providing recommendations and measures for
designing hard and soft structures to protect and reduce coastal erosion efficiently and
effectively.
