Abstract:
The purpose of this study were to study the quality of work life for Thai Massage therapists In Chiang Rai Municipality. Data collecting were from 149 Thai massage employees who work in 32 traditional Thai massage shop that had been approved of business opening by the Chiang Rai municipality and had been currently operated. Instrument used for this study were questionnaires. The 5 of quality of work life were studied as follows: 1) Fair pay; 2) Sanitary and safe environment; 3) Opening opportunity for employees to develop their knowledge and ability for job stability 4) The type of job that based on law or judicial administration, and; 5) The balance of work-life and personal-life. The analyzing tools for this research were frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The result showed that most Thai massage employees were: 46 years old up; single; with job experience from 5 years; working 3-4 hours per day, and currently having average monthly income of 5,001-10,000 Baht. For the quality of work life of Thai Massage therapists from classifying by age, status, job experience, monthly income; its found that the aspect that Thai massage employees had in the highest level was sanitary and safe environment. From classifying by work-hour per day, Thai massage employees who had 1-2 work-hour per day, 3-4 work-hour per day, and 5-6 work-hour per day had the highest life quality of work in aspect of sanitary and safe environment. For Thai massage employees who had 7 work-hour per day or longer, they had the highest quality of work in aspect of the opportunity for employees to develop their knowledge and ability for work stability. For the aspect that Thai massage employees of every group had in the lowest level of quality of work life was fair pay. In overall, The quality of work life for Thai Massage therapists were at moderate level. When considering in each aspect, its found that the aspect that had the highest level of the quality of work life was sanitary and safe environment, law or judicial administration, opportunity for employees to develop their knowledge and ability for job stability, the balance of work-life and personal-life, fair pay, respectively.
