Abstract:
The purposes of this research aimed to study and compare the roles in teacher development of school administrators under the office of Pattani Primary Educational Service Area 3 classified by the status of school administrators in the area. This study was the survey research collected data from the sampling group of 67 school administrators who worked in the office of Pattani Primary Education Service Area 3. The questionnaire used in this research was the Likert rating scale. The statistics used to analyse the data were frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation.
The result in this study found that the roles of school administrators in the aspect of teacher development in the office of Pattani Primary Educational Service Area 3 was mostly rated at high level (µ = 3.91). When considering each aspect found that the supporting aspect for enhancing the teacher experience in their profession to get the higher position was rated at the highest level (µ = 4.03), followed by the supporting aspect to change knowledge with the other teachers in other schools (µ = 3.98), the supporting aspect to take training courses, meeting, seminar, and co-teaching with the other schools (µ = 3.94), the teaching evaluation aspect within school (µ = 3.92), the supporting aspect to self development to meet the standard qualification of teacher profession (µ = 3.91), and the supporting aspect to encourage teacher to be creative for their work and educational freedom (µ = 3.81), respectively. The lowest level in this survey came to be the supporting aspect of setting the knowledge place for teachers to have themselves education and development (µ = 3.75).
The research finding about comparison among the principles of school administration found as following: 1) the female school administrators had more the role for school management than the male, 2) the school administrators who got the Master degree had the higher role for teacher development than the teachers who got the Bachelor degree, 3) the school administrators who got experience in the management level between 5-10 years had the higher role for teacher development than the teachers who got experience in the management level more than 10 years and lower 5 years, respectively, and 4) the school administrators who had responsibility in the medium size of primary school had more the role for teacher development than those who worked in the large and small size school respectively.
