URL: The aim of this study was to investigate the factors associated with the discontinuation of Depo-Provera among married women of Nepal. The study was retrospective analysis of 587 users of Depo-Provera. Data were obtained from Nepal demographic health survey for the year 2011. The outcome was Depo-Provera discontinuation within 12 months or other. The determinants were socio-demographic variables and reasons for discontinuation.About 199 women discontinued within 12 months of beginning of its use in last five years. Statistical analysis was done using Chi-squared test to assess statistically significant between determinants and outcome. Full logistic model based on the sum contrasts was carried out. The model initially fitted contained additive effects for age, region, residence, religion, ethnicity, wealth index, female education, male education, male occupation, female occupation, total number of child and reason. The reduced model shows that the mean age 15-24 years, rural, Janajati, women with higher education, and side effects and miscellaneous were higher than overall mean percent. The users should be motivated to continue in-order to reduce early discontinuation and thus prevent from unwanted pregnancies and abortions. Information regarding the methods and side effects should be pre informed to the users.
