Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate the quality of water of the swamp forests at Mai Khaw Village in Phuket Province by comparing it with the standards of surface water set by the National Environmental Board in 1994 and the standards for community water treatment of 2010; 2) to develop an electronic book for primary students based on environmental education; 3) to study the level of efficiency of the book, and 4) to evaluate the level of satisfaction of the students with the electronic book.
Regarding the environmental science, the researcher used the technique of grab sampling to analyse the quality of the water in the Tung Tien swamp forests at three spots: at the water treatment pipes, in the swamp, and before the water entered the sea. The study looked at 11 parameters of the water quality. The results showed that the quality of the water was as follows: the temperature was found to be between 24.84-29.78 degrees Celsius; the EC was found to be between 4.10-47.20 milli Siemens/cm; the salinity was found to be between 4-32 PPT; the pH was found to be between 6.00 -7.46; the TDS was found to be between 9,150-33,800 milligram/ liter; the DO was found to be between 1.10-6.77 milligram/ liter; the SS was found to be between 15-1,750 milligram/liter; the oil and grease was found to be between 34.00-437.00 milligram/ liter; the BOD was found to be between 0.30-11.10 milligram/ liter; the total phosphorus was found to be between 0.0776-0.2676 milligram/ liter; the TN was found to be between 0.019-0.946 milligram/ liter. The EC, SS, DO, BOD, and oil and grease levels did not meet the standard of the National Environmental Board in 1994 and the standards for the community water treatment of 2010. Regarding environmental education, the researcher developed an electronic book for the students to study the swamp forests at Mai Khaw, and used the book with 31 Prathom 5 and 6 students. The data was analyzed by using percentage, means and t-test. The results of the study revealed that after using the guidelines, the students level of understanding, attitudes, and awareness to conserve the swamp forests had increased greatly with a 0.95 level of reliability. The level of students achievement turned out to be 73.54%.
