Abstract:
The objective of this research is to compare the coefficient of performance (COP), the energy efficiency ratio (EER), and the input power of the 24,560-Btu/h refrigerator with R-22 refrigerant. The experimental tests are conducted before the installation of the heat exchanger and after the installation of a smooth tube and a spiral groove tube (Turbo Fin).
To control the temperature for testing of refrigeration performance, water is used instead of air. The water flow is arranged to be the counter-flow direction. The water flow rate in the condensing and evaporation units are 0.418 kg/s and the water temperatures are 15 degree Celsius and 45 degree Celsius respectively. The water flow rate in the heat exchanger is constant and equal to 0.0127 kg / s. at a temperature of 15 degree Celsius
The experimental results showed that the COP, EER, and the input power were 3.35, 11.43 (Btu/h)/W, and 2149 W, respectively. When installing the smooth tube, it was found that the COP and EER values increased 5.05 % and the input power fell 4.82 %. Finally, when installing the turbo fin tube, it was found that the COP and EER values increased 14.62 % and the input power fell 12.8 %.
