Learner development activities guideline to enhance of the effects and self-defense from social network of secondary school students in Phuket Province
Abstract:
This research analyses the perceived benefits and effects of online social networks with regard to behavior. The main objective of this research was to develop guidelines and activities that would make students aware of behavior they could use to protect themselves while using social networks. The samples in this study were 387 students from Phuket. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The collected data were used to calculate the frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results:
1. Most respondents are female secondary school students with a GPA higher than 3.00 who have used online social networks for more than 4 years. They use Facebook from their homes for 1 2 hours per day for conversation.
2. The overall perceived benefits of using social networks is at the excellent level. Each aspect: emotion (xˉ = 3.88), learning (xˉ = 3.54) and social (xˉ = 3.48) is also at the excellent level. The perception of the effects of social networks is at the low level level in every aspect except health, which is at the moderate level (xˉ = 2.72).
3. The overall protection behavior is at the high level (xˉ = 3.41). Knowledge of behavioral techniques is at the moderate level (xˉ = 3.40).
4. Activities developed to make students aware of behavior they could use to protect themselves while using social networks are: 1) learning activities, such as Co-learning, 2) social activities , such as A White community, 3) emotional events, such as Knowing and understanding myself and 4) behavioral guidelines to promote self-protection techniques, such as Knowing online media.
