Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore the opinion of the respondents regarding pet
friendly hotels that offer pet friendly accommodations and allow pet access to their service areas.
The findings a guideline to improve the service quality of pet friendly hotels. The study was
implemented by using the online questionnaire survey to collect data from whose who are
interested in pet friendly hotels. The population of this study was categorized into two major
groups which were those who used to stay in pet friendly hotels and the group of people who
were considering whether to stay in the pet friendly hotels. The sample size was 400 with
convenient sampling and the data was analyzed by using the descriptive statistics.
Most of the respondents in this study are shown to be male, age between 21 30 years
old, single and mostly own pet. The study showed that most participants have been receiving
information about pet friendly hotels from the internet and are well informed that those hotels
allow pet owners to bring in pets into guest rooms. The major concern of these respondents is the
hygiene of the rooms such as fleas that come with pets. Nevertheless, most of the respondents are
willing to stay at pet friendly hotels on the condition that the hotel has a separate accommodation
allocated for the pets and the pets owners or other hotel guests.
In addition, most respondents prefer that the hotel should provide the three areas that pets
can be allowed to enter. They are the (balcony outside guest rooms), recreational facilities and
lobby respectively. However, the three areas that pets should never be allowed to enter are
restaurants, spa and massage area, and fitness center respectively.
