Leadership of School Administrators in the Expanding Opportunities Schools According to the Opinions of Teachers and School Board of Directors of Selaphum District, the Office of Roi Et Educational Service Area 3
Abstract:
The purposes of this research are; 1) to study the leadership of school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools according to the opinions of teachers and school board of directors in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3, 2) to compare the opinions of teachers and board of directors toward the leadership of school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 according to status, gender and educational level,
3) to study the opinions and recommendations of teachers and school board of directors in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3. The sample group consisted of 174 teachers in 20 expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 and 164 members of school board of directors in 20 expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3. The tool used in the research was a 5-rating scale questionnaire and open-ended questions. The basic statistical methods used to analyze the data are percentage and mean. The discrimination indexes are between .20 to .80 and reliability is .98. The standard deviation is tested by t-test and F-test (One Way ANOVA). The results of the study are the following:
1. The opinions of teachers and board of directors toward the leadership of school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 was at the high levels in general. The highest level was the consideration of individualism and the next highest was the influential ideologists and the inspiration of colleagues. The lowest level was the intellectual stimulation.
2. There are no different in opinions of teachers and board of directors toward the leadership of school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 in general and in each aspect when comparing by status. When comparing each question, it was found that; Question 10,
the ability to create feeling of unity among colleagues to obtain a common goal; Question 12, to create incentives for colleagues to realize the purposes of work and have the challenge to succeed in works; Question 17, showing commitment to the schools goals and trying to work to the best of their ability; Question 20, urge colleagues to realize the commitment
to the long term goal of schools; Question 26, encourage colleagues who try to find new ways to solve the problems at work by intellectual stimulation; Question 30, urge colleagues to develop their own belief values and to be reasonable at work, are different with statistical significance of .05. There is no different in general and in each aspect when comparing
by gender. When comparing each question, it was found that Question 22, recommending colleagues to look at problems in different aspects, and Question 25, encouraging colleagues to set hypothesis or goal for the successful work, are different with statistical significance of .05. When comparing the educational level, there are different in general and in all aspects with statistical significance of .05. The subjects with educational level lower than bachelors degree opined that school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 had more leadership than teachers and school board of directors with bachelors degree with statistical significance
of .05. Teachers and school administrators with educational levels lower and higher than bachelors degree and educational levels at bachelor level and higher do not have any different in opinions.
3. Additional recommendations and opinions of teachers and school boards
of directors toward the leadership of school administrators in the expanding opportunities schools in Selaphum District, Roi Et Educational Service Area Office 3 revealed that teachers and school boards of directors have the following opinions : for influential ideologists 1) create pride in colleagues who work together 2) have high self-confidence and determination in managing schools; for inspiration of co-workers 1) stimulate co-workers to realize the benefit and success of schools 2) sacrifice and devote time to persuade colleagues to have working inspiration; for intellectual stimulation 1) urge colleagues
to develop their own belief values and to be reasonable at work 2) create confidence in colleagues to realize that all works can be succeeded with cooperation; for consideration of individualism 1) provide the opportunity for colleagues to use special skill and learn challenging matters 2) assigning work to use as a tool in improving colleagues.
