Abstract:
This thesis aims to study the statement of principle of The United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (The Convention) With the emphasis on the area of money laundering and the study of Thai money laundering act in different angles such as its enforcement , limitation and shortcoming in order to find a guideline to improve the Thai money laundering legislation in consistent with the scope set by the United Nations. The impact on Thailand after becoming a party to the Convention has also been made.As a result of the study it was found that The Anti Money Laundering Act of Thailand contains the same principles of the Convention but the Act needs amendments in order to be consistent With the Convention. The amendments added to The Anti - Money Laundering Act should provide for more predicate offenses in addition to the existing ones in the Act. Inaddition , certains legislations which arc important and related to money laundering should be initiated in order to effectively fight against transitational organized crime incompliance with the principles set forth in the Convention. Furthermore, being a party to the Convention will definitely be beneficial to the Thai society , politics economy, laws and international relations as a whole. Therefore , Thailand should be a party to the Convention in order to exhibit her stand and sincerely towards the world community of her cooperation in implementing the various measures set forth by the United Nations in fighting against transnational organized crimes. As such , it would not only be a great benefit to Thailand herself but also a genuine contribution of peace to the world community.
