A development of an electronic supply chain-based system for research and creative work management in graduate and arts-culture oriented higher education institutions in Thailand
Abstract:
The study dealt with application of electronic supply chain to research and creative work management. Its purposes included (1) to develop a model of research and creative work management based on electronic supply chain for graduate and arts-culture oriented higher education institutions in Thailand, (2) to assess the developed model, (3) to design and develop the system of research and creative work management based on electronic supply chain, and (4) to assess the efficiency of the developed system.
The study was of a research and development type which was conducted in seven steps as follows : (1) investigating a knowledge body of work piece prototype by analyzing and synthesizing basic data and research information websites, (2) assessing needs of model by interviewing research unit administrators and experts as well as investigating opinions of administrators, researchers and officers responsible for research management, (3) developing a model framework and drafting the model and the electronic supply chain-based system of research and creative work, (4) having the experts assess the feasibility and utility of the drafted model, (5) drafting the system prototype using the assessment results of model from (4), (6) trying the system prototype after being assessed its efficiency by the technical experts, improved and correcting the data with the sample group, and (7) improving the system by using the testing results obtained from the samples and writing a report to disseminate the model. The research instruments of the study included semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and the model and system assessment forms. Arithmetic means, standard deviation, stepwise multiple regression analysis, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data.
It was found that the model of research and creative work management based on electronic supply chain for graduate and arts-culture oriented higher education institutions in Thailand consisted of five components; namely, research and creative work management structure, electronic management of research and creative work, system development of research and creative work, research information project management, and efficiency assessment of research and creative work based on electronic supply chain. The results obtained from the correlation coefficients analysis revealed that the other components affected the main component related to electronic management of research and creative work had prediction coefficients of 80.20% (R2 = .802).
Regarding the feasibility and utility assessment of the constructed model, the investigation indicated that the model was highly feasible ( , SD=0.46), and useful ( , SD=0.47). The developed system of research and creative work was composed of three main systems; e-Research Supplier Management, e-Research Management, and e-Research Customer Management. As for the efficiency assessment of the research and creative work management based on electronic supply chain, it was found that the experts were highly satisfied with the technical part of the system ( , SD=0.58) and the users were also highly satisfied with the quality of the information, the system, and the service ( , SD=0.60). The analysis of the correlations between the users satisfaction and the effectiveness of the system in three aspects showed that the relationships related to forecasting and planning, cooperation and coordination, and to information sharing were at a high level (r = .766), (r = .754), and (r = .730) respectively and all were in the same direction. The study was at a statistical significance level of .01.
