Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the administrative achievement of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region, 2) to study factors influencing the administrative achievement of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region and 3) to propose the guidelines for administrative achievement improving the Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region. Mixed methods research was applied comprising both quantitative and qualitative techniques. The quantitative research was conducted by studying the sample consisted of 261 respondents composed of 56 principals and 205 teachers working in the Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region under the office of the Border Patrol Police Regions 31,32,33 and 34. The sample size derived from Krejcie and Morgans table and selected by simple random sampling. Data collection was made by using questionnaire. Data analysis was undertaken by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and multiple regression analysis. The qualitative research was conducted by interviewing 14 key informants who were purposively selected from supervisors of the Border Patrol Police Schools in region 3. The data were analyzed by using content analysis comprising translation and interpretation. The research findings were as follows: 1) The administrative achievement of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region in overall at the high level. While considered in each aspect, it was found that the higher level was Royal Project, followed by the personnel administration. The administrative achievement which was at a moderate level ranking from the higher to the lower level as follows of academic administration, followed by general management and budgeting, respectively. The level of academic administration of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region was at between moderate and high level. The level of the budgeting was between low and very low level. The level of the personnel administration was at low level. The level of the general management was between moderate and high and the level of the Royal Project was high level. 2) The factors influencing the administrative achievement of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region , by the quantitative research was found that the predictors of academic administration, the budgeting, decision-making authority of the principal, ability of personnel, the morale of the personnel in the operation, education of teachers and the environment or context of the school which were all correlated with the administrative achievement of Border Patrol Police Schools in the Northern Region .3) The suggestions for improving the school administration obtained from the interview composed of (1) improvement of the welfare system, building up morale, the development of the role of the teacher, compensation, professional development of teachers to the same standard with any other schools (2) the community participation in development of the school in all aspects (3) decentralization of power to the school principal, in the decision-making, administration of budget and recruitment of school personnel (4) cooperation with Ministry of Education in development of quality of educational personnel (5) continuity in the coordination between high authority and schools (6) adequate allocation of the budget for schools (7) adding sufficient personnel to cover all the school classes and (8) continuity in developing and teacher training to be equipped with knowledge and skills in teaching and virtues and morality of being professional teachers.
