The experimentation in using mathematics M.043 learning document for the students in Mathayomsuksa five of Ramkhamhaeng University Demonstration school
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to make a comparison of the mathayomsuksa five students' learning achievement about the exponential function. These students learned by using learning document designed by the researcher compared with the mathayomsuksa five students who studied from the normal text. The outcome of this research will be utilized in the effective improvement of teaching mathematics. The mathayomsuksa five students who studied in the mathematics program in the second structure of the higher secondary education curriculum, B.E. 2524 (amended. in B.E. 2533), first semester, educational year 2537. Fifty students were divided into two equal groups of 25 students. Twenty five in the experimental group and 25 students in the control group. Students in both groups had equal ability in their mathematical learning.Students in both groups were taught by the researcher, using the same teaching technique and for the same period of time. Students in the experimental group studied from the learning document, and students in the control group studied from the normal text. When the learning sessions were finished, students knowledge was by the research's designed achievement test. The results of the tests were then analyzed for: (a) the arithmetic means, (b) percentage of arithmetic means of students in each group for the comparison and test the difference of the arithmetic means by t-test and (c) to calculate the percentage of students in each group who obtained scores higher than 50 percent of the full score. The result of this research had shown that, the arithmetic means of the experimental group students who studied from the learning document (18.44 or 61.47 percent) was higher than the controled group's students who studied from the normal text (16.40 or 54.67 percent). When the arithmetic means of students in each group were compared, there was the significant difference at the level of .05. Moreover, it was found that 96 percent of students who studied from the learning document achieved a score higher than 50 percent of the full score, whilst only 72 percent of students who studied from the normal text obtained higher than 50 percent of the full score.
