Qualifications of tourism and hotel graduates according to Thailand qualifications framework for higher education: faculty of liberal arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the qualifications of Tourism and Hotel graduates from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi according to thailand qualifications framework for higher education. Six aspects were taken into account1) morals and ethics, 2) knowledge, 3) intellectual skills, 4) interpersonal skills and responsibility, 5) numerical analysis, communication, and information technology skills, and 6) psychomotor domain.
The samples were administrators/lecturers in the Department of Tourism and Hotel, fouth-year Tourism and Hotel students from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, and the graduate usersthe organizations under the cooperative education programme. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The content validity was evaluated by the experts, and the reliability was .95. The data obtained was then analyzed by computing frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis.
The results showed that the opinions of the administrators/lectuers, students, and graduate users towards Tourism graduates on every aspect were at a high level (μ=3.88, S.D.=0.64). The aspect of interpersonal skills and responsibility had the highest mean score (μ=3.98, S.D.=0.63). The mean scores of other aspects were as follows: morals and ethics (μ=3.97, S.D.=0.66), psychomotor domain (μ=3.86, S.D.=0.65), numerical analysis, communication, and information technology skills (μ=3.74, S.D.=0.59), intellectual skill (μ=3.73, S.D.=0.70), and knowledge (μ=3.71, S.D.=0.70). In case of Hotel graduates, the opinions of the administrators/lectuers, students, and graduate users towards Hotel graduates on every aspect were also at a high level. The aspect of interpersonal skills and responsibility had the highest mean score (μ=4.14, S.D.=0.66). The mean scores of other aspects were as follows: morals and ethics (μ=4.08, S.D.=0.66), psychomotor domain (μ=3.98, S.D.=0.70), intellectual skills (μ=3.86, S.D.=0.74), knowledge (μ=3.78, S.D.=0.71), and numerical analysis, communication, and information technology skills (μ=3.74, S.D.=0.64).
