Abstract:
The purposes of the research Factors Affecting Job Performance of Department of
Juvenile Observation and Protections officers whilst Teamwork as an Intervening Variable
were as follows:
1. To investigate the validity of Casual Relationship Model of empowerment and
psychological sufficiency affecting job performance of the officers in the Department of Juvenile
Observation and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable with empirical study.
2. To develop the Casual Relationship Model of empowerment and psychological
sufficiency affecting job performance of the officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation
and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable.
3. To examine the invariance of parameter in the Casual Relationship Model of
empowerment and psychological sufficiency affecting the job performance of the officers in the
Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable
between male and female.
4. To study the factors related to the job performance of the officers in the Department of
Juvenile Observation and Protection.
5. To compare the job performance of the officers in the Department of Juvenile
Observation and Protection after the experiment between the experimental group and control
group.
Research Methodology
The research methodology was as follows:
The 1st and 2nd stage of research: the instruments used were 5 measurement tools including
1) Measurement tool of structural empowerment with its reliability equals to 0.94.
2) Measurement tool of psychological sufficiency with its reliability equals to 0.89.
3) Measurement of psychological sufficiency with its reliability equals to 0.89. 4) Measurement
tool of team work with its reliability equals to 0.97. and 5) Measurement tool of job performance
with its reliability equals to 0.93. The sample group of the 1st stage of research was 300 officers in
the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection. The statistic for data analysis was
confirmatory factor analysis by using the LISREL program. The sample group of the 2nd stage of
research was 550 officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection. The statistics
for data analysis were percentage, average, standard deviation and correlation value by using the
statistical analysis program, Structural Equation Model: SEM and the analysis of Structural
Equation Model of Multiple Group by using LISREL program.
The 3rdstage of research: The data collection was qualitative method by semi-structured
interview. The sample group was 11 officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation and
Protection. The data analysis was conducted by analyzing the contents according to the issues
given in the educational extent and the data investigation was carried out by the member checks.
The 4th stage of research: data collection was carried out by using quasi-experimental
design called posttest only control-group that was designed by offering course training to the
officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection in the curriculum of teamwork
development by using the empowerment on performance. The sample group was 20 officers of
Department of Juvenile observation and Protection of Samutprakarn province divided into the
experimental group and control group with 10 persons in each group. The statistic used for data
collection was t-test.
Research Result
The research results revealed as follows:
The 1st stage of research: Development and construct validity of the variable, empowerment,
psychological sufficiency, teamwork and job performance of the officers in the Department of
Juvenile observation and Protection found that the analysis of Congeneric Model of empowerment
was concordant with the empirical data by considering from Chi-square statistic equals to 22.68 (df = 15, p = 0.091), GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.95, standardized RMR = 0.036 and RMSEA = 0.041.
The analysis of Congeneric Model of psychological sufficiency was concordant with the
empirical study by considering from the Chi-square equals to 16.05 (df= 10, p = 0.098), GFI =
0.99, AGFI = 0.96, Standardized RMR = 0.027 and RMSEA = 0.045. The analysis of Congeneric
Model of teamwork was concordant with the empirical data by considering from Chi-square
statistics equals to 34.62 (df = 28, p = 0.181), GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.95, Standardized RMR =
0.028 and RMSEA = 0.028 and the analysis of Congeneric Model of job performance was
concordant with the empirical data by considering from Chi-square equals to 35.88 (df = 26, p =
0.094), GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.95, Standardized RMR = 0.023 and RMSEA = 0.036.
The 2nd stage of research: Development and validity investigation of Casual Structure
Equation Model of the job performance of the officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation
and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable. According to the development and
investigation the invariance of Casual Relationship Model of empowerment, psychological
sufficiency affecting to the job performance in the Department of Juvenile Observation and
Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable between male and female, the research
result found that the Casual Structure Equation Model of job performance on the officers in the
Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening variable
was concordant with the empirical data and the Chi-square statistic was equals to 96.23 (df = 80,
p = 0.10), GFI = 0.98, AGFI = 0.90 and RMSEA = 0.019. According to the analysis of the
invariance on the Casual Relationship Model, the factors affecting the job performance on the
officers of Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection whilst teamwork as an intervening
variable found that the 1st hypothesis was the test of the invariance of model without
determination of parameter value between the different groups of gender was equal to the
empirical data. The test result found that there was no rejection of hypothesis of Chi-square equal
to 197.76 (df= 172, p = 0.08) and GFI = 0.96. This indicated that the Casual Relationship Model
of job performance was concordant with the empirical data. In addition, the Casual Relationship
Model of job performance officers on Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection which
had different gender had the invariance of Model form but the analysis to test the invariance of
parameter according to the 2nd-5th hypothesis found that the Model was not concordant with the
empirical data in every model.
The 3rd stage of research: The study of phenomenon related to the support factors of adding
the job performance on officers in the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection found
that the Department was used to be the standard of indicator on officers performance. According
to the assessment of job performance today, it is used by new indicator standards from Civil
Service Office for assessing the government officers. However, this criteria was not complete
enough to notice that the new assessment could increase the effectiveness of performance on
officers be better effective.
The 4th stage of research: The comparison of job performance on officers of Department of
Juvenile observation and Protection after the experiment between experiment group and control
group. The research result found that job performance after the experiment of the experiment
group and control group was different by statistical significance at 0.05 level. The experimental
group had the level of job performance higher than the control group.
