Abstract:
This master project aims to solve the problem of inappropriate production scheduling causing tardiness and long time-taken of generating the production scheduling in the chemical manufacturing plant. The author uses the management information system and production scheduling theory in developing the scheduling software to replace the existing system. Four heuristic scheduling rules namely, FCFS, EDD, SPT, and MST are applied in order to propose the alternative schedules for the company. The indicators to evaluate the performance of the schedule are tardiness, tardy jobs, and mean flow-time. The proposed software is developed by using Microsoft Access and Delphi. After the implementation phase, the time consuming for generating a production schedule is reduced from 97.5 minutes to 12.5 minutes or reduced from the existing situation about 87.18 percents. The tardiness is reduced to only 1.98 percents, and the productivity is increased to 95.42 percents of master plan. Furthermore, the overtime is also reduced from 30.84 percents to 22.97 percents of regular time which is the saving for the company about 22,666 baht per month or 271,992 baht per year.
