Abstract:
Flooding crisis in year 2011 impacted to the peoplegs life near the river bank and lowland. Many communities still didngt decide to evacuate to other place. They thought about the floating house during the flooding. The development of floating house in the early stage was using local materials ; like bamboo , foam , steel or plastic bucket such that house can float in water.
This research focuses on floating concrete , especially the light-weight concrete as it can be designed for many types of house. The property of moderate light weight concrete developed was by replacing the fine aggregate by the crumb rubber from used tires. The crumb rubber size of no.6 and no.26 with concrete mixture ratio of 10% , 20% and 30% and the fluid polymer mixture ratio of 7.5% and 15% by the weight of cement were used in this research.
The test results showed that the concrete mixed with crumb rubber decreased its density and the compressive strength as the percentage of crumb rubber is increased. The weight of concrete mixed with crumb rubber was less than that of normal concrete about 13%-24%. The sample mixed with 7.5% polymer had better permeable resistant than polymer around 15%. The floating stability of moderate light-weight concrete mixed with crumb rubber formed the hollow rectangle shape reflected the efficiency on stable equilibrium which the distance between the metacenter point and the center of bouyancy is larger than the distance between the center of buoyancy point and the center of gravity.
