Abstract:
The purposes of this thesis are 1) to analyze principles and concepts in graphic design in relation to Islamic identity 2) to analyze and identify elements of graphic design that reflect Islamic identity 3) to identify the standard format of Islamic identity to Halal products and services available in Thailand. A framework related to Islamization, localization and globalization was applied using qualitative and quantitative research methods. Fifteen people with dynamic roles in Islamic culture were interviewed for the qualitative research. In addition, a questionnaire survey sampling 122 Thai Muslims and 15 graphic designers was used to provide quantitative data. The questionnaire reliability index value is 0.9131. The data analysis has shown the following: 1. Guidelines for Islamic graphic design through Thai Muslims way of thinking are as follows: 1.1 Designing to correspond with Quranic principles illustrating Arabian civilization 1.2 Designing consistently with Thai social values and government policy 1.3 Designing in line with Thai arts and Thai identity 1.4 Designing to correspond with Islamic art using geometric form and Arabesque elements 1.5 Using the meanings of the Quran to contribute to the design concept: sincerity, respect, knowledge, modesty, balance, remembrance and unity 2. Guidelines for Islamic graphic design through the elements of Islamic Art in Thailand 2.1 Blending Islamic designs with Thai design 2.2 Using original Islamic designs 2.3 Using the main elements of Islamic art: geometric form, Arabesque elements, and the supplementary elements of graphic design: pictures and symbolic drawings 3. Guidelines for Islamic graphic design through the Principle of Image Communication as designated in the Quran 3.1 Unity: use natural, casual and classic Image. Dark and bright tone colors, Thai characters: round head fonts with one line weight, Thai traditional fonts with different line weights and hand fonts with one line weight. There should composition with principles of symmetrical balance, regular repetition and contrast of scale. 3.2 Respect: use natural, classic and casual Image. Bright and subdued tone colors. Thai characters: Thai traditional fonts with one line weights, round head fonts with one line weight and hand fonts with different line weight. There should be compositions with principles of contrast of scale, regular repetition and symmetrical balance. 3.3 Sincerity: use classic, casual and natural Image. Dark and bright tone colors. Thai characters: hand fonts with different line weight, round head fonts with one line weight and hand fonts with one line weight. There should be composition with principles of regular repetition, symmetrical balance and contrast of scale. 3.4 Knowledge: use modern, natural and classic Image. Dark tone colors. Thai characters: Thai traditional fonts with one line weights, beaked end fonts with one line weights and round head fonts with one line weight. There should be composition with principles of symmetrical balance, regular repetition and contrast of scale. 3.5 Balance: use natural, casual and classic Image. Bright and subdued tone colors. Thai characters: round head fonts with one line weight, hand fonts with different line weight and Thai traditional fonts with one line weights. There should be compositions with principles of symmetrical balance, regular repetition and contrast of scale. 3.6 Modesty: use natural and classic Image. Subdued and dark tone colors. Thai characters: round head fonts with one line weight, Thai traditional fonts with one line weights. There should be composition with principles of radial balance, symmetrical balance and regular repetition. 3.7 Remembrance: use natural, classic and elegant Image. Subdued and dark tone colors.
