The effect of being a member of the provident fund on employees' organizational commitment : a case study of employees of Singer Thailand Public Company Limited
Abstract:
The objectives of this research are to 1) study the level of employees organizational
commitment, 2) study employees membership of the provident fund, 3) compare employees
organizational commitment classified by personal factors and 4) compare employees
organizational commitment classified by their membership of the Provident Fund. The research
sample was comprised of 166 employees of Singer Thailand Public Company Limited. The
questionnaire was used as the instrument for the data collection. The statistics employed for data
analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test for Independent Sample and One Way
Analysis of Variance. The results of the research indicated : 1) The level of employees
organizational commitment was high. 2) For employees membership of the provident fund, the
results included: 2.1) A period of membership was at least 5 years; 2.2) The level of expectation
for the benefits was high; 2.3) The level of satisfaction of the provident fund returns was
moderate; 2.4) The level of trust of the provident fund committee was high; 2.5) The level of
members knowledge of the provident fund was high. 3) Employees with different marital
statuses, incomes and job positions had different organizational commitment at a statistical
significance level of .01. 4) Employees with different level of trust in the provident fund
committee had different organizational commitment at a statistical significance level of .01.
