Needs assessment of training for competency-based learning management of technical teachers in the central region under the jurisdiction of the office of vocational education commission
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the practice of the director, assistant
director, heads of the department, heads of the division and head of the curriculum development
of competencybased learning management. 2) to conduct needs assessment of training for
competency-based learning management of Industrial trades teachers of colleges in the central
region under the jurisdiction of Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC). The samples
comprised 3 groups: Group 1 consisted of 81 college administrators, Group 2 included 158 heads
of department/ heads of division/ heads of curriculum development section, and Group 3 included
265 teachers. The research instruments were 3 sets of questionnaire. The data were analyzed by
using basic statistics, priority needs index modified (PNImodified) and priority needs index.
The results of research revealed that :
1. The administrators have not yet set the criteria for assessing, following up, and
evaluation training projects concerning competency-based learning management while the heads
of department, division or curriculum development section have not yet support the facilities for
competency-based learning management for enterprises, community, parents and students.
2. The needs of teachers at the highest level in the area of competency-based learning & on
knowledge and understanding can be summarized in the following order : 1) the design and
management of competency-based learning for teachers. 2) competency-based learning plans. 3)
competency-based curriculum development. 4) competency-based learning management.
