Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the level of performance of the school regarding environmental management, to collect problems and to propose suggestions to improve the management of the school environment. The sampl group consisted of 363 teachers and supporting staff in the school. The collected data was analysed by the statistics and the results were presented in the form of frequency, percentage, and S.D.
Most of the respondents were male who held bachelor degrees. They were working as teachers and supporting staff in the small public school.
The level of implementing environment management in the school war found to be high as a whole. The areas implemented by most school included policy making, planning, implementing, checking, and reviewing. Policy making focused on the compliance with the government plan. Planing focused on encouraging participation from every unit. Implementing and checking and modifying plans focused on assigning a responsible person in writing. Reviewing focused on the rewiew by administrators of the school of the whole process.
Suggestions to improve the implementation of environmental management in school included the following : Policy making-the school study the present situation of the school and make the policy based on the ideas from every one. Planning-the school should plan by at their resources and community and assign the persons who will be responsible for the tasks required. Implementation-the school should provide clear steps in working and solutions to problems occurred during the process. Checking and modifying the plans should be continuously done. Reviewing-the school should record changes and modify the plans to suit those changes.
