A study of the adaptation in language learning behaviors of Mattayom 1 student studying in International Programs
Abstract:
The objectives of this study were; 1) To investigate the adaptation in language
learning behaviors of students studying in International Programs 2) To assess the
students adaptability by comparing the students responses from the questionnaire
before and after study in the International Program, and 3) To evaluate the
effectiveness of their adaptation by comparing their language ability before and after
study in International Program. The sample of this study was 56 students studying in
Mattayom 1 in International Program at Potissarn Pittayakorn School.
The main research instruments included the English Proficiency Test, the
questionnaire about language learning behaviors, and semi-structured interview. The
data obtained were analyzed by 2*3 Two-way ANOVA to compare mean scores
before and after the students learning in the International Program.
The findings reveal that the mean score obtained from three language learning
theories: Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism have no significant difference
indicating that students used each language learning indifferently. Moreover, there was
a significantly different between the mean scores obtained from pre-test and post-test.
Therefore, the students effectively adapt their language learning behaviors.
