Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the level of the performance in tax collection of the Koh Klang Sub-District Administrative Organization, to investigate the problems and to provide suggestions to improve the tax collection. The sample group consisted of 267 people who paid taxes and fees to Koh Klang SAO. Questionnaires were used to collect the data. The statistics employed in analyzing the collected data were percentage, arithmetic means, and S.D.
The results of the study revealed :
The overall level of performance in tax collection of the Koh Klang Sub-District Administrative Organization was found to be moderate. The most effective area was found to be social benefit, followed by services and public relations. The least effective area found to be the rates of taxes.
The problems found included the following: the staff could not meet with the homeowners; the public was not informed properly; no modern equipment for tax mapping and insufficient budget.
Suggestions from the respondents were: the Koh Klang SAO should inform the public clearly about the steps in paying taxes and the purposes of taxes. In addition, the staff should be trained new techniques in collecting tax more efficiently, so that they can achieve the tax target.
