Abstract:
This research aims to study the waste reduction in silicone process of silicone
factory. According to the study of waste in the production from the fourth quarter of
2007 until the first quarter of 2008, it was found that 41% of waste occurred from grade
changing process. For one time in the grade changing there was 493 kg of waste and
54,230 Baht losses. The researcher has applied work study and standard time
technique for break down work analysis and standard time observation. Then, applied
quality control circle and why-why analysis method to brainstorm for cause approaching.
It was found that the time in flush color line processing was the longest one so, total
time in changing was very long and there was lots of waste in this process. The
problem solving was to improve working procedure in flush color line processing to
reduce working time. And there made standard working procedure in flush color line
processing. The total time for one time in the grade changing has decreased from 36.62
minutes to 27.73 minutes a round. There was 360 kg of waste and 39,600 Baht losses.
Therefore, waste was reduced to 133 kg or 14,630 Baht for a changing.
