A study of the curriculum administration of the schools in the Silatharn network under the supervision of the office of the primary educational service area in Krabi province
Abstract:
The objectives of the research were to study the level of performance of the schools regarding curriculum administration, and to investigate problems and provide suggestions to develop the administration of the school curriculum. The sample group consisted of 76 teachers who were working in 10 schools of Silatharn Network. Questionnaires with the level of reliability at 0.94 were used to collect the data. The questionnaires were divided into 7 areas of administration : preparation, curriculum making, planning to implement the curriculum, curriculum management, supervising, review, and developing the curriculum. The statistics employed to analyse the collected data included frequency, means, and S.D.
The results of the study revealed that the overall level of performance of the schools was found to be high. The areas of performance were ranked from the highest to lowest as follows : curriculum making, preparation, planning, management, developing, review and supervising respectively.
The problems found by the teachers about the performance of the curriculum administration of the schools included : most personnel lacked the awareness in preparing themselves for new curriculum ; insufficient network both inside and outside the schools ; insufficient teachers and lack of supervision, control, and develop the curriculum. Suggestions were that participation from various parts was needed to develop teaching, media, as well as learning network ; Internal supervision for teachers is also important, and results should be used to improve the quality of teaching.
