Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to develop the database management system for
Recording the manufactured- movement-part repair. The developed system can foster
traceability and reducing time in retrieving information which is then used for
performance review before submitting report to the administrators. The recorded
documents, nowadays, are filed in hard copy as well as hand-written records that
cause the inaccuracy and delay in searching and retrieving. The inaccuracy of the
data can also lead to the mistake in decision-making. in reviewing the recorded data
of the movement--part repair from 14 production lines during January to December
2012, the researcher found that the time-spending per task is averagely 174.78
minutes, which is worth 99,247.08 baht in a year. To reduce the wasted time in
recording and retrieving data, the researchers propose to apply the Microsoft Office
Access 2010 to design and manage data-filing system. The result of trying out the
new system in real working condition revealed that the system users are satisfied
with the efficiency and convenience in utilizing it. The system also provides a single
recording and retrieving source, which enable the users to search and analyze data a
lot faster before submitting the report to the administrators. The new database
management system can reduce time-spending per task averagely from 174.78 to
54.57 minutes, which is 45.5% decrease. According to the users' satisfaction level at
4.11, it indicates that this new system is highly satisfactory and suitable to use in
recording and retrieving process
