Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the significant factors for parts defect affecting the stamp VIN plate number process with Experimental Design Method. The chosen sample factory had found that the parts were deformed more than specification of 175 ± 1 mm. could cause machine malfunction at punching VIN stamp station. The data collection of 100 samples in March showed the scrap ratio at 93%. The analysis of Cause & Effect Diagram and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA) were applied to find the significant factors. Such factors were quantity of part per stack, number of pallet in stack, and lead time of stock. The factorial design of experiment method was performed with significant level of 0.05, repeated for 2 times, and formularized to find the optimum level of each factor. In conclusion, the implementation of these factors with real production showed that the scrap could be reduced from 0.93% to 0.10%
