Abstract:
Nowadays, metal welding has played a significant role in the manufacturing industry Gas metal ARC welding (GMAW) can be used to produce high-quality and clean welds on most materials. The objective of this study is to examine appropriate factors in GMAW process using CO2 with steel SS400- 6 mm under American welding society standard D1.1 This welding uses a double V-butt joint with 60 degree. Full factorial experiments with two levels (24) are performed. These four factors with two levels include electric current at 100 and 150 ampere, voltage at 18 and 20 volt, welding speed at 3 and 5 meters per minute, and shielding gas at 1 and 1.5 kg hour. Results indicate that highest tensile strength of 490 MPa is found when electric current at 150 ampere, voltage at 20 volt, welding speed at 5 meters per minute, and shielding gas at 1 kg per hour.
