Abstract:
Wireless devices transmit data using radio signal that is broadcast through the air making it
vulnerable to eavesdropping and the man-in-the-middle attack that masquerades as a sender. By
using the security of WPA2 Enterprise can defend such attacks with an authentication server.
However, it incurs addition cost of the network that is not suitable for Small Office Home Office
(SOHO). This thesis presents a wireless network with WPA2 Enterprise security with a
simulated authentication server in the access point. This method does not need an additional
server. Additionally, this thesis presents the results of experiments with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS,
and PEAP protocols with the authentication based on RSA and Elliptic Curve algorithms. The
Elliptic Curve algorithm is known to be suitable for small embedded devices that have low
computing power. The results of using Elliptic Curve algorithm have shown the reduction of
computing time by 69% compared to those using RSA algorithm.
