Abstract:
The objective of this research is to study the factors influencing the skid resistance of the road surface. The several types of road surface were performed testing in order to find out the relationship between the value of the skid resistance and the factors influencing in several ways and forecast the skid resistance of road based on these factors. The results can be applied to forecast the usage of road surface, schedule accurately maintenance and increase road safety. Moreover, this research analyses the relationship between the depth of road surface by using Sand Patch equipment and the value of the skid resistance by using British Pendulum Test (BPT). Then, equipment calibration conforms with the standard and get a technique of skid resistance by analyzing the value of the depth of road surface. It was found that the factors influencing on the value of skid resistance are the type of road surface, the temperature of the road surface, accumulative of traffic over pavement, the pavement age, and accumulative of truck over pavement. When the value of these factors increases, the friction of the road surface will be reduced.
