Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to develop and find the efficiency of an integrated
vocational learning and teaching model which consisted of six models as follows: Management,
Staffing, Schedule, Facilities, Budget and Training Course. The developed training course was
implemented in the college. The samples for this study derived from purposive sampling
technique consisted of 10 teachers from Phayao Technical College under the Vocational
Education Commission. The follow-up phase was conducted three months after the training. An
evaluation was achieved by applying CIPP model of Danial L. Stuffebeam. SPSS/FW software
was used to analyze the data. The results of the six models were concluded as follows:
Management should be in the form of a committee with an academic deputy director or a
head of division to be the chair person of the committee. Staff, coordinators and lecturers should
be teachers with at least one-year teaching experience. The supervisor for the project evaluation
should be the head of section, the head of the division or the related deputy director. Each of them
must attend the integrated vocational training course.
The process should be taken in the following sequence: meeting the committee, publicizing
the project, recruiting the staff, organizing the workshop training course, developing evaluation
plans, implementing the teaching in classrooms and workshops, evaluating process and reporting.
In terms of facilities, existing classrooms and workshops would be used; computer and all
accessories, LCD projector, still and video cameras, copying machine, and stationery are also
needed for this project. Budget should be provided for acquisition of the equipment such as
computers and all accessories, audio visual equipment, improvement of workplace and office
furniture, additional workshop materials, allowance for transportation, organizing meeting,
follow-up and evaluation processes.
The developed training course consisting of 18 modules was evaluated by the experts.
Evaluations from the experts focused on the correlation of various factors. They reported on the
appropriateness of the training course as high level with the average value of index of consistency
(IOC) was 0.9325 for all factors and the overall training course was appropriate at high level. The
efficiency value of the training course was 84.18/80.91 % for the theoretical part and 84.77 % for
the practical part which was higher than the set criteria. The reliability values of the exercise, the
examination and the evaluation form were 0.7432, 0.7645 and 0.9200 respectively complied the
set criteria. From the evaluation of the training process, the results showed that overall facilities
and process of the training were appropriate at very high level.
The follow-up process of the training course revealed satisfied results that the teachers who
had been trained were able to apply the method on their job. The results of teaching in theoretical
subjects and practical subjects evaluated by the supervisor revealed that the teachers passed the
evaluation with averages of 88.88% and 91.11%, which were rated good and excellent according
to the set scale. For the learning achievement of the students, it was found that all students passed
the examination with an average of 75.12% in theoretical subjects and an average of 82.96% in
practical subjects. The students were highly satisfied with the learning process especially on the
content and practical use.
The opinions of the authority group and the colleagues were investigated. The results
showed that in overall, they highly agreed to adopt the training course for teacher training in the
college.
