Abstract:
To analyze Ca? in various syntactic constructions to find out the type of grammatical category of Ca? , the meaning and function of Ca? in Those construction as well as the optional or obligatory occurrence of Ca? in those constructions. It is found that Ca? can occur in 3 syntactic constructions as follows: 1)It can precede action verbs and state verbs. 2)It can precede and follow auxiliaries. i.e. aspectual auxiliaries and epistemic auxiliaries, in two ways. 3)It can occur between two verbs. Semantically, it is found that Ca? is an irrealis marker expressing unactual situations in the semantic domains of possibility, probability, volition, future, conditions, habituality, experience, deduction, objectives, inception, and purposes.
