Abstract:
This research is correlational research. The objectives of this research are 1) to study the level of optimism, self-esteem and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities,
2) to study the relationship between optimism and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities, 3) to study the relationship between self-esteem and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities, and 4) to predict adversity quotient in personnel in autonomous universities with optimism and self-esteem. The sample group was 390 personnel in
3 autonomous universities : King Mongkuts University of Technology North Bangkok, Chulalongkorn University, and Mahidol University. The instruments for gathering data were questionnaires divided into 4 parts : individual factors, optimism, self-esteem, and adversity quotient. The statistics employed for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. The results were concluded that
1. The level of optimism, self-esteem and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities were high level.
2. There was a positive relationship between optimism and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities at statistical significance level of .01.
3. There was a positive relationship between self-esteem and adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities at statistical significance level of .01.
4. Two facets of optimism : positive expectation and self-regulation together predicted 17.2 percent of adversity quotient of personnel in autonomous universities.
