A study of the effects of internal variables on the performance of charcoal stove
Abstract:
Charcoal stove has been widely used in many countries. With the present energy crisis, a scientific method has been imposed to study the effects of factors on the stove with the aim of improving the stove performance. Factors which have direct effect on the stove geometry are classified as the internal variables. These variables include gap area, grate hole area, grate-to-pot distance, combustion chamber size, area of air inlet door, and grate thickness. The experiment has been conducted on this work to study the influences of the afore-mentioned variables on the charcoal stoves. The standard conditions are fixed: all the experiments are performed by hearting up 3700 gm. Of water in 24 cm. diameter pot and boiling for 30 more minutes, 400 gm. Of charcoal is initially loaded on the glowing kindling (50 gm. by weight). The time to boil is recorded and the stove efficiency is calculated from the amount of charcoal consumed"
