Abstract:
Purposes The purposes of this research were to study the content of the Life experiences area of the Elementary School Curriculum B.E. 2521 relevant to local environment end needs and to compare the opinions of teachers in the experimental schools located in different regions of the country. Procedures The sample population consists of 90 Prathom I and Prathom II teachers in various experimental schools. The research instrument employed was the questionnaire consisting of 159 items asking the opinions of the teachers about the content of the Life Experiences area in Prathom I-IV. The answers were graded by using rating scale. Findings 1.The contents of the curriculum which were very related to the local environment and needs and could be used immediately with no revision were as follows :-Northern region : Life at home, Our Community. Northeastern Regions ; Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, Life at Home, Our school, Our Community, and Current Events. Southern Regions : Plants, Animals, Our school, Our Community, Force, Food Preservation, Current Events. Central Region : Life at Home, Our school, our Community ,Type of Thais jobs. 1.The contents of the curriculum which were very related to the local environment and needs and could be used with only minor changes were as follows :- Northern region :. Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, Life at Home, The Thai nation, Earning Living, Chemical Substances, Food Preservation, Current Events. Northeastern Regions ; Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, Life at Home, Our Community, Physical Environment, The Thai Nation, Earning Living (Except the Rice Farming), Energy and Chemical Substances, The Universe and the Space, Current Events. Southern Regions : Our Bodies, Animals, Life at Home, Our Community, Physical Environment, The Thai Nation, Earning Living, sound, Chemical Substances, The Universe, The Space, Current Events. Central Region : Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, The Environment, The Thai Nation, Earning Living (Excepting type of Thais Jobs), Energy as Chemical Substances, The Universe and the Space. Bangkok : Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, Life at Home, The Environment , The Thai Nation, type of Thais Jobs, Trade Exchanges, Services, Handicraft and Industry Cooperatives, Force, Chemical Substances, Food Preservation, The Universe and the Space, Current Events. 3.The contents of the curriculum which were very least related to the local environment and needs and had to be mostly revised were as follows :- Northern region :. Our Bodies, Plants, Animals, Life at Home, The Thai nation, Earning Living, Chemical Substances, Food Preservation, Current Events. Northeastern Regions ; Physical Environment, Heat , light, Sound, force, The universes and the Spaces. Southern Regions : Physical Environment, Our Country, Heat, Light. Central Region : Physical Environment, Current Events. Bangkok : Life at Home, Our school, farming, Animal Farming, Fishery, Trade Exchanges, heat, light, Force, Current Events. 4. It was concluded that the contents of the life Experiences area of the curriculum were not consistent to local environment and needs and most of the teachers suggested that some improvements and changes should be made before implementation.
