Abstract:
Purposes 1. To study the problems of the academic administration of the elementary school principals under the Auspices of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Administrative Organization. 2. To compare the problems of the academic administration of the elementary school principals according to the school sizes and the experiences in being principals. Procedure The questionnaires were sent to 165 elementary school principals under the Auspices of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Adminis¬trative Organization. One hundred percents of the questionnaires were returned, but 98.78% were completed. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis f variance, Newman-Keuls test and t-test. Findings. 1. Generally, the elementary school principals viewed that the problems of the administration of the academic affairs were moderate. They considered that inadequacy of budget for academic affairs and the delay of sending textbooks from the official authority were the major problems in academic administration. 2. There were significant differences at the .05 level among the problems of the principals of the elementary schools which differed in sizes on four topics namely : the process of academic administration, learning-teaching activities, instruc¬tional supervision and extra curriculums activities. There were no significant differences on the other two topics as the manage¬ment of curricula and curriculum materials, and measurement and evaluation. 3. There were significant differences at the .05 level between the problems of the elementary school principals whose experiences in being principals were different, on the topic of instructional supervision. 4. The major difficulties of the academic administration were ranked as followed : lack of budget for supplying academic affairs, inadequacy of teachers, and economical problems of the parents.
