Abstract:
The purpose of this cross - sectional descriptive study was to examine the factors related to stress and stress management behaviors of border patrol police company 446 in Narathiwat province. The self reported questionnaire was used for demographic data, Mental health indicator questionnaire ( General Well being Schudule),Stress management behaviors questionnaire,The Maudsley Personality Inventory (MPI),The social support questionnaire. The SPSS for Window was used for descriptive and inferential Statitical analysis. Descriptive statistics were presented as percentage, mean, standard deviation, while inferential Statistics were done for Chi-square test, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient. Stepwise multiple analysis was performed to determine for significant predictive factors. The result of this research found that 13% of border patrol police company 446 in Narathiwat Province had the high level stress, 54.3% had the medium level stress and 32.7% had the lower level stress. The related factors and predicting factors such as stress were Neuroticism (Personality Scale N), low social support, low educational level, physical health problem, sufficiency of family and personal income, where as the factor which significantly associated with stress at P < .05. Stress management behavior were border patrol company 446 in Narathiwat Province had 30.9% of the high level stress management behavior, 36.4% had the medium level stress management behavior and 32.7% had the lower level stress management behavior. The related factors and predicting factors such as stress management behavior were Extroversion (Personality Scale E), native habitat, low social support, sufficiency of family and personal income, where as the factor which significantly associated with stress management behavior at P < .05.
